"Those consumed by art are forever free"

My name is Maria Hanusovska. I was born in Slovakia, where I currently live and devote my time to art. I graduated from the University of Pavla Jozefa Safarika in 1975 with a Master's degree in early childhood education. Throughout my entire professional life I dedicated myself to elementary school students, but my heart belonged to art, art techniques, and teaching art.

As an early-childhood educator for over thirty years, it was the children's artwork that continually inspired me. With my students, we experimented with many techniques and entered into local as well as national competitions. Together my students and I grew our interests and skills as artists. In my personal time I also attended conferences and took classes to develop other artistic methods.

I eventually succumbed to the alluring qualities of acrylics. The beautiful spectrum of colors and textures found in acrylic paints was simply irresistible. With this medium I found it easy to portray the abstract style that poured from my hands. Abstract pieces are not restricted by the size of a canvas, artists emotions, imagination, and can be used as a window to the soul.

And what is my dream? When I can bring someone happiness with my work.

I have participated in many exhibitions in Slovakia and many other countries.
